Another school year has begun, with new beginnings for students and families. The first day of school, or the first day of high school, or the first day of college – all milestones pointing toward hopeful and exciting futures. It is also a time for new beginnings for business. Summer is winding down; vacations have come and gone, and it’s time to focus anew on the business of business.
Now is the time to gear up for the coming new year; it will be here before we know it. What are your 2015 goals, and what do you need to do to launch into them at full speed on January 1st? Now is the time to set goals, plan strategies, lay the groundwork and build momentum.
Take stock in your business. What has gone well? What has gone poorly? Where is your market headed? What about competition? What changes have you seen over the past year? What new changes are you predicting for the coming year? What new initiatives are you thinking about? What changes do you need to make? Are small adjustments adequate, or is this a time for a radical change in direction, and brand new beginnings for your company?
Whether large or small, new beginnings can be exciting and frightening. There is a whole universe of possibilities and opportunities ahead, but they often lie in uncharted and unknown territory. Know what you know, and know where you can use help. Get the help you need. Whatever you haven’t accomplished by yourself this year isn’t going to be accomplished next year, either, without help.
